Hey everyone I own a 2001 Toyota Celica and Im going to upgrade, but... Im still debating between the Audi TT and of course the 350-Z, after learing about the TT I quickly realized what a great car it is, but I keep falling towards the Z and how awsome it is and its less expensive. I bought my celica more than a year ago and the engine blew up 4 months down the road (bearing failiure), got it relpaced and now 12k miles down the road on the NEW ENGINE, I swear its gonna take a crap agian (knocking and ticking noises), also the celicas are notorious for blowing up; thier droping like freaking flies all over the country...
Anyways I just wanted to know how the VQ engines hold up? besides ill be keeping it N/A, and I havent heard of any Z`s blowing up but, has any one heard or know about any serious problems with this engine like an oil consumpsion problem, or weak valvetrain, ETC...? Or is the Z just a kick a$$ car period ;)

Any info is greatly appriciated, Thank you...

The Z is a kickass car NA. Better if it's FI and done correctly. There are no major issues, unless you're the picky type that worries about every little noise or idiosynchracy.

I have an 03 and love the car. I treat it well, she returns the favor. Besides a few recalls for various issues, I haven't had any major mishaps. I just take good care of my baby.

I personally don't like the Audi TT. Not to sound chauvinistic, but the TT seems like a chick car to me. I have never really seen a market for TT's in the tuner scene.

That reminds me, do all 03` Z have that rack and pinion problem or is it just some?

No im not picky about noises (the exhaust note should take care of that) its just that I know the celica is gonna blow up, besides I drove the car once in my life an 03`, and MAN WAS I LOVE!. Yeah it had the shaky steering wheel problem but I still didnt care...

Where I live I see a Z everywere, and Ive only seen one modded TT and they are fast. But I just really feel the Z, really Im just looking for reasurance from you guys ( guess everyone in here is), and your right SmoothZ, theres a small market for the TT.

Anyone else got something to add?

Go to youtube.com and check out the audi vs Z race after that itll be a no brainer ... ZZZZZZZZZZZ all the way.. :} )
Is that the one with the girl comparing the 2? If so, I've seen it and the Z wins!

Seriously, the Z is a great car with an engine that has been voted the most times as the winner of some prestigious motor award... Seriously. The Nissan V6 is akin to the Chevy 350ci workhorse - bulletproof and built to last.

Well idk if this helps you with your decision or not but I just found out that the Z was named "Tuner Car of the Year!"... its an amazing machine... i don't regret buying mine at all... I was torn between the Z and the STI but i fell in love with the Z....

here is the comparison:

in my opinion hands down... go with the Z... i hope this helped and good luck with your decision...

& if your into the tuner scene... I always believe: "there is no replacement for displacement..." :irock:

A good friend of mine bought an Audi TT with the 225 hp motor, and when I drove it I thought it was bad ass and I was ready to buy one UNTIL I drove the Z. I think you should do the same: test drive a TT then go test drive a Z and write us back when you're ready to go over what mods you want to go with on your new Z.

I just bought a Z and went through the same issues, although I didnt look at the TT. It was the STi and G35 coupe I had the choice of. I was literally about to make the deal for the G35 as I was staring at a brand new red Z (it was a nissan dealership), when I said "screw it", I dont want to compromise any more, as I had gotten a celica and lude before instead of a z, I am for once going to get what I have dreamed of. No more compromises, no more "oh its got a nice back-seat."

I say this because it really sounds like you are a Z man, but you are rethinking it. You buy a car like the Z because you dream of it, not because it makes good sense. I tell you, you will regret not getting the Z if you get the TT instead.

Also, imo the TT styling is getting way out of date. When did they first come out? Anyways, Audi's are more expensive to fix, id guess. You just got done spending money on your celica's engine, why not buy a car you can drive and not have to worry about it blowing up on you.

My cousin's ex-bf was a total moron, he never treated her right at all. I think he had a mother complex too. Oh, and he drove a TT. After seeing this comparison, it's clear evidence that his decision lead him in the wrong direction (imo) :rolf2:

In all honesty though, drive/buy what YOU are most comfortable with, don't let others define your lifestyle.
