Infiniti G35

From Nissan 350Z & 370Z Wiki

Note: Sometimes the manufacturer of the G35 may be referred to as Nissan. Technically, this is true- Nissan Motor Co. Japan manufacturs the G35. It is marketed and sold in the US as an Infiniti. Please do not be confused by this.

What is the Infiniti G35 Coupe?

  1. Nissan’s 2004 Description:
“The 2004 Infiniti G35 Sport Coupe has a racing-inspired, driver-oriented, rear-wheel drive platform and a powerful 280 horsepower 3.5-liter DOHC V6 powerplant. With its advanced design and advanced technology, the G35 Sport Coupe turns up the performance and drapes it under a sensuous, eye-catching two-door body.
The G35 Sport Coupe is offered with a choice of 5-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode or a 6-speed close-ratio manual transmission. Infiniti's Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system and Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS) are standard on every G35 Sport Coupe.”
  2. As far as it’s platform goes, The G35 Coupe is built on the front mid-ship platform first employed in the Infiniti XVL Concept Sedan, which would later become the Nissan Skyline V35 Sedan in Japan and Infiniti G35 Sedan in the US.

Regional Differnces

Nissan’s designation for the G35 Coupe and Skyline 350GT Coupe are both the same, CPV35. Whether the vehicle is sold in the US, Japan, Korea, the Middle East, or elsewhere in Asia, they are all produced at the same plant and on the same assembly line. At some points in production different parts are used for different markets. Most of these differences are legal ones however, as they are all essentially the same cars. Engines, Supsensions, Bodies, etc are all the same. There are a few differences however, such as:

  • Rear lights on the JDM coupe have orange secondary lighting
  • Nissan / Skyline 350gt labeling in Japan
  • Speedometer labeling in Japan
  • Suede seat inserts in Japan

Having said that, they are all badged inside as Nissan Motor Co. V35, whether they are USDM or not. Almost all G35s in the US that carry Nissan or Skyline badges were badged that way using OEM (original equipment manufacturer- in this case Nissan) parts. In many cases, this badging was done at the dealer at the customer's request, after delivery. Ultimately the argument over whether or not the USDM G35 is a Skyline 350GT is an argument of semantics.
